I’m going to Disney World soon! If you’ve ever been to a Disney park you know that it is almost a requirement to wear minnie ears. After working at Magic Kingdom for a year, I have seen so many super creative DIY minnie ears and I though I would make my own. I began my process by watching countless YouTube videos and searching the deep ends of Pinterest. I decided to make pink and white flower minnie ears, inspired by the EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival!
I bought all of my materials at Hobby Lobby
-
- Basic Headband
- Pink and White fake flowers (they were 50% off)
- Fabric to make the bow ( I bought 1/4 of a yard)
- Cardboard
- White Felt
- Scissors and a pencil
- Glue Gun
I only paid $12 for everything! Way cheaper than any Disney Ears!
First, I drew the ears on a cardboard. I used a set of minnie ears that I already had to trace the ears and get the right size, however you can use a mug to make the round shape.
Next, I cut out the minnie ears and placed them on the headband, you might have to cut the cardboard pieces to fit on the roundness of the headband.
Then, I folded the white felt in half and cut around the cardboard ear leaving enough space to glue the two pieces of felt together.
Once I was satisfied with the size of the ears and felt I glued the cardboard ear directly to the headband with hot glue, then I glued the bottom of the felt and worked my way around the gluing the felt and completely covering the cardboard ear.
Once I had covered the ears with felt I glued the flowers around the ears front and back gluing from one edge of the ear to the other and switching between placing pink and white flowers.
The last step is to make the bow. I used a rectangular piece of fabric that was about 11in by 7in. I folded the fabric hotdog style then hamburger style. I also ironed the fabric to keep it in place. Then I just used a fuzzy tie to tie the fabric in the shape of a bow.
With a thin regular piece of fabric, I hot glued the bow to the headband and cut off the excess fabric.
Thats it! In just a couple of hours I made custom, Pinterest worthy minnie ears to wear at Epcot’s Flower and Garden Festival.
