There is a week in between Christmas and New Year’s in which you soak up as much of the holiday cheer as possible before all of the lights and music are stored in the closet for next year. This week is usually spent eating delicious leftovers from Christmas, cooking more This week, my family and I decided to take a quick road trip to one of the most buzzed about towns in West Texas, Marfa.
Our first stop was about 45 minutes away from Marfa in Valentine’s Texas. There is a contemporary art installment about consumerism.
Arriving to Marfa was a bit surprising, it is definitely a very very small town in the middle of the desert. At first glance it can seem like an obscure town however when you look deeper and longer you start noticing cute buildings, restaurants, and shops in the middle of the desert. None of the shops pop out at you or ask you for attention like a very conservative piece of art. As with many things in life, If you really want to see the beauty in something/someone you really have to look deep and search for it.

Stay:
Although we did not have the opportunity to spend the night in Marfa. I would suggest staying at the Hotel Paisano, it it located in downtown. Although everything is within walking distance.
