I first started listening to podcasts as entertainment during long drives to and from work. Murder mystery Serial Season 1 got me hooked on podcasts and since then podcasts have crept into a large amount of my day. When I need to do something that doesn’t require full concentration like getting ready for the day, cooking, designing, or editing…I’ll listen to a podcast. If you’ve ever met me IRL, there is a good chance that I have recommended a podcast to you. Besides their convenience, podcasts are a great way to learn something new, be inspired, and entertained. So I thought I’d share a few of my favorite inspirational podcasts.
Pop Fashion
My all-time favorite podcast is Pop Fashion hosted by Lisa and Karen, together they discuss fashion news, in an intelligent way like how fashion affects the world. Fashion is related to everything from politics to the environment, seriously. Each episode is filled with little segments like fashion news, fashion crime, listener letters, and one good thing.
Jen Gotch is OK…Sometimes
Jen Gotch is the founder of Ban.Do, for years she struggled with depression and Anxiety. In a very authentic and honest way, she shares her mental health journey and how she started feeling better. In an effort to begin the conversation of mental health and to help people feel better. Since listening to this podcast, I have learned so much about mental health and have placed so much more importance on my self- care and mental happiness. I highly recommend it.
By the Book
Nonfiction, self-help books are my cup of tea and if they are also your cup of tea then you’ll really enjoy By the Book. Jolenta and Kristen read and live by a self-help book for two weeks, then they reflect on their experience during each episode and decide if the book changed their life. Jolenta and Kristen are vulnerable, real, and so funny as they approach each book with a critical mind.
How I build this
Guy Raz, (also the host of Ted Radio Hour), interviews CEO’s from some of the most innovative and best-known companies on how they built their company from the very beginning. It is so interesting to learn that a lot of founder’s had no intention of building their business, they simply saw a gap in the market and filled it. Each interview ends with the question “How much of your success do you attribute to your hard work and dedication, and how much do you attribute to luck?”
These are only a few of the podcasts that I am subscribed to and listen to on a daily basis. Podcasts have been a huge source of knowledge, inspiration, and happiness and I encourage you to give podcasts a listen.
