I am excited to partner with Jord Watches, who not only make detailed, handcrafted wood watches for men and women but who believe that watches should tell more than time. But in being aware of making time count. With that in mind, lately, I have been making a conscious choice to enjoy the moment. Watches have always been a daily accessory for me- there is something so classic about wearing a watch that I think really pulls an outfit together and watches make it easy to be both in the present moment while taking advantage of every minute.
I have always struggled to manage my time, I begin with good intentions but somehow always wonder where the time goes and struggling to accomplish my goals. My weekdays are filled with my full-time digital marketing job, taking Digital Creative Institute classes after work, and spending quality time with friends and family. I have found myself becoming more mindful and intentional of how and with who I spend my time, realizing how time is so valuable and the importance of being more present. Priority management (AKA time management) is a continuous internal battle of making a conscious choice to spend my time doing things that lead me closer to my overall goal or watching Gilmore Girls (#teamjess). I am by no means an expert in priority management or manage my priorities perfectly, but I hope that by sharing a few tips that have worked for me, it will benefit some of you.
I have been able to get a grasp on my time by scheduling when I will work on something. The first step is physically writing down everything that I need to do, like writing this blog post, take a pilates class, and work on a DCI project. Once I have a visual of my to-do list, I schedule a block of time in my personal google calendar of when I will do it- scheduling a pilates class is pretty easy since it is offered at certain times during the day, but even if the task doesn’t have to be done at a certain time, I will still schedule it on my calendar. This has helped me by making myself accountable to do something. It also clears my mind of the constant worrying about needing to do something and allows me to be more present and in the moment. Wearing my Jord Watch makes it so easy to stay focused on my scheduled task by not having to check the time of my phone. I am very guilty of looking at my phone to check the time only to be distracted by Instagram for 30 minutes.
This weekend, I visited Laguna Gloria, a museum that is part of the Contemporary Austin, built in 1916, it is an Italianate-style villa, former home of Clare Driscoll. The former home, current museum, and art school is located on the shores of Lake Austin. The sculptures, fountains, immediately transport you to a villa in Italy, which makes it hard to believe that it is in Austin. Aside from the outdoor sculptures and art, the view from the museum itself is breathtaking and the garden is blooming with pink flowers. I practiced being more present by enjoying the details of the villa, the overcast sky, and the view of Lake Austin.
To visit Laguna Gloria, I wore a simple pastel midi dress and my Jord watch, I am wearing the Cassia series in Walnut and Vintage rose, which I think effortlessly completes my outfit. The delicate details and classic roman numeral’s watch face are perfect for everyday wear.
I am also excited to say that I am hosting a contest, where one winner will receive a $100 Jord Watches gift card! To enter visit this webpage, it only takes a minute to enter and the giveaway will close May 27th, 2018 at 11:59pm.
