Happy first day of Summer! The Summer heat in Texas arrives around May and lasts until about September, this means that my closet has a significant amount of flow-y dresses and shorts than coats and turtlenecks. You can expect that this comfy white dress will be on repeat all summer long. Although, I’m still getting used to not having 3 months for summer break. I am very excited for this summer because in a few weeks I am traveling to Denver, Co with my family and I am v excited to visit my godmother and sightsee Denver. I haven’t been a few years since I have been there so if you have any recommendations about what to do, see or eat, I’d love to know them.
Guess what? This comfy white dress is from a Thrift Store! It’s from Banana Republic and it was $13! Every Thursday, I listen to the Pop Fashion Podcast: my current my favorite podcast! Kaarin and Lisa are two witty and smart women who keep me up to date on the latest news in Fashion and everything that affects it like politics, economics, business, even the environment! It’s amazingly educational and entertaining. I highly recommend it, even if you do not love Fashion. After listening, I was inspired to start thrifting after Kaarin expressed her love for vintage clothes and I have learned to love giving clothes a second life, not only is it great for the environment but it is also great for my wallet. Did you know that it takes 6 gallons of water to produce a T-shirt?! And although it does take a lot of patience and time to find something that you truly love at a thrift store, I have learned that it is best to tackle one section each time you visit, instead of trying to go through the entire store. This makes the process a lot less overwhelming and a lot more enjoyable.
This Banana Republic Dress is super cute and it has white delicate embroidery on around the neckline and arms, which makes the perfect touch to a simple dress. I paired it with my Franco Sarto sandals (also on repeat this summer), a simple tote (a few years old from Target), and Jcrew Pink Sunnies (for a light pop of color).
How are you trying to stay cool this summer?
